Wednesday, August 18, 2010
FarmVille is celebrating Summer with the new Limited Edition Summer theme and introduced a new LE animal, a FLAMINGO
The Flamingo can be purchased in the FarmVille Market during the next 9 days only.
The pink feathered Flamingos are famous for standing on one leg. Although it is unsure why, it is suggested that standing on one leg allows
“half of its body go into a state of sleep, and when one side is rested, the flamingo will swap legs and then let the other half sleep or standing on one leg may allow the birds to conserve more body heat, given that they spend a significant amount of time wading in cold water”
Some interesting facts about Flamingos  include:
  • In Ancient Rome, Flamingo tongues were considered a delicacy.
  • Andean miners have killed flamingos for their fat, believed to be a cure for tuberculosis.
  • Ancient  Egyptians believed Flamingos to be the living representation of the god Ra.
  • The MOCHE people of ancient Peru worshiped nature. They placed emphasis on animals and often depicted Flamingos in their art.
  • Pink plastic Flamingo statues are popular lawn ornaments in the United States.
